Artificial intelligence connected to your operation

AI isn't worth much cut off from your data. Connected to the ERP, it starts answering questions that used to take a week.

There are two ways to run an artificial intelligence project in a company. One starts with the technology and ends in an impressive demo nobody is using three months later. The other starts with a specific process that costs money and uses AI only where no rule is enough.

Where AI actually pays off

Intelligent documents

Vendor bills, purchase orders and receipts that someone transcribes today. AI reads them, extracts the fields and leaves them ready for human review.

Automated customer service

Repetitive inquiries — order status, balance, availability, scheduling — answered with real ERP data, with escalation to a person when appropriate.

Internal copilots

Business questions in plain language about data that already exists: which customers are buying less, which products lost margin, where the operation is falling behind.

Lead scoring

Opportunities prioritized by real behavioral signals instead of whatever judgment happens to be available that day.

Classification and routing

Emails, tickets and requests automatically classified and assigned to the right team.

Operations summary

What happened yesterday in sales, inventory and collections, summarized with the exceptions flagged, without anyone putting a report together.

The rule we follow: rules first, AI second

If a process can be solved with a deterministic rule, it gets solved with a rule. It's cheaper, more predictable and auditable. AI comes in when the problem involves language, ambiguity or variability: reading a document that comes in different formats, understanding an inquiry written the way a real person writes, or summarizing scattered information.

Rule of thumb: before approving an AI project, insist that someone state which specific decision or task is going to change, who does it today and how long it takes. No answer, no project.

Governance: the conversation you need to have up front

AI on Odoo: what comes out of the box and what has to be built

Odoo 19 includes AI features across several areas of the product, and they're a good starting point. What doesn't come ready-made is what's specific to each company: the agent that knows your credit rules, the one that answers on WhatsApp with your catalog and your delivery times, the one that reads your vendors' bills in their particular formats. That has to be designed and integrated, and that's where we work.

Frequently asked questions

What is AI actually good for in a midsize company?

Three things with a provable return: reading and interpreting documents that someone transcribes by hand today, handling repetitive inquiries with real data from the system, and answering business questions about data that already exists but nobody has time to cross-reference. The rest is usually a demo.

Do I need an ERP before using AI?

It's not required, but without organized data the results are poor and hard to trust. An agent that queries a well-implemented ERP answers with facts; the same agent working on scattered spreadsheets answers with approximations, and in a business that's worse than not answering at all.

Is my company's data exposed?

It depends on the design, and it's a decision that has to be made explicitly at the start. You define what information can go out to an external model, what gets processed on controlled infrastructure, what gets anonymized and who can query what. An AI project without that conversation is a risk, not an innovation.

Can an AI agent serve customers on WhatsApp?

Yes, and it's one of the highest-return use cases when it's connected to the ERP: it can confirm an order's status, look up a balance or book an appointment, because it queries real data. The key is defining where the agent stops and a person takes over — an agent that improvises a commercial commitment costs more than it saves.

How much does an applied AI project cost?

Much less than two years ago, and much more than a demo suggests. The cost is in integrating with your data, in the rules for what it can and can't do, and in testing. It pays to start with a narrow, measurable use case before committing a large budget.
